After receiving her degree from Essex Agricultural School, Darlene Atteridge began to pursue her new career. Because she wanted to be flexible enough to be with her two young children in their early school years, she founded Wildfire, Inc. Darlene was one of the first women selling firewood, maintaining gardens and lawns, as well as planning and designing projects. As the one-woman business continued to prosper and grow her husband Lane left his full time construction job to join forces with Darlene. Darlene and Lane have received many inquiries as to why they named the company “Wildfire.” The name derives from the natural clearing of land that occurs during a wildfire. Although it is true that they are destructive, the result of this natural process is a rebirth of potassium rich soil. Soil made richer for young lush growth to take the place of the old. The natural rebuilding of natures landscape.
